Streamline Shares in Historic Charlotte Preservation Award
Cornelius Fire Station

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Town of Cornelius, Streamline, and Partners on the Cornelius/Lemley Fire Station No. 1 Restoration and Expansion Share in Historic Charlotte Preservation Award

Mooresville, NC – An artful 12,000 square foot facility that complements a Cornelius neighborhood now houses a state-of-the-art station that protects the firemen and equipment critical to the Town of Cornelius. Not only is the Cornelius/Lemley Fire Station No. 1 facility functional, but it has also been recognized by Historic Charlotte, Inc.’s for its historically appealing renovation and expansion.

In November, officials of the town of Cornelius, NC and several of the entities involved with the project were awarded the Preservation Award at the “Blast From the Past” event sponsored by Historic Charlotte Inc.

According to Doug Barrick, project manager for the town of Cornelius, the project saved the town money almost immediately. “This station gave us the ability to add another ladder truck which dropped our ISO rating the minute we got it.” The ISO factor is one item that Insurance companies use to assess rates for home owners and property insurance. “The day we brought this station on line it saved money for our citizens” adds Barrick.

StreamlineStreamline General Contractors were one of the key partners on the project.  “We’re thrilled to have played a key role in this project,” says Amelia Nemeth of Streamline. Nemeth is quick to point out that approaching the unique problem of doubling the size of the original structure and upgrading the entire station infrastructure all while remaining operational 24/7 didn’t mean spending more money.  “We knew from talking with Town of Cornelius and Fire Station officials that they had to cut the expenses.”

By working collaboratively all parties involved were able to keep costs under control while providing the community with an award wining, attractive yet functional addition that will serve the city of Cornelius well into the future.

Nemeth, Alan Demaske and the Streamline team plan on making additional award presentations to Town of Cornelius & Fire Station officials in early 2009.
